Philosophy for children
Started in the 1960’s by the American Philosopher Matthew Lipman, philosophy for children enables children to think for themselves while being part of a collective research into truth, meaning and studying the rules of logic.
The practice of philosophy in school enables the child to become an independent and responsable thinker by develop critical and creative thinking skills, self-estime and social skills.
We conduct philosophy sessions at La Découverte beginning with the youngest children, in the context of reaerch communities, discussing the issues which the children raise after listening to an adapted story.
Recognised by UNESCO as a way of developing understanding of democratic values, this way of teaching can be found in 60 countries worldwide.
