Introduction
Student work is not evaluated by a simple grading system. It is, however, assessed by both the teacher and/or the student and presented to parents, at least twice per year, during the tripartite meetings.
Parents are given not only a verbal report but also an idea of the skill level their child has attained with regard to objectives set for each Cycle. In addition, the process through which their child has reached these objectives is also discussed. The tripartite meetings provide an opportunity for parents to share important information concerning their child as well as ask pertinent questions regarding the curriculum. Parents and teachers may also request additional meetings throughout the school year if necessary.
At the end of Cycle II, students sit an internal exam, the results of which will establish levels attained with relation to the objectives established for this Cycle. During the last school year level at the end of Cycle III (at age 12), students sit Cantonal exams as for all students attending schools in the Geneva canton. Consequently, students are able to apply to private or public secondary schools. |
